Welcome to lotrart! A LiveJournal community dedicated to art inspired by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. To ensure that your experience with lotrart is as aesthetically pleasing as possible, this community currently has a closed membership.
If you'd like to be admitted into this community, please contact me, karabou. But before you email me, please read the following rules. By emailing me, you are hereby agreeing to all the terms set before you.
1. Thou shalt write uniform posts. What does this mean? This means, I'm afraid, that we're going to have to go with a general format when it comes to posting art. If you don't follow this structure, your post will be deleted, and you can either: A) Post again with the proper structure... or B) Not post it. Here is the format that I ask you to use:
Character(s): Rating: Link (or lj-cut): Would you like constructive comments? (type "yes" or "no") Is this a WIP (Work In Progress)? (Again... type "yes" or "no") Notes:
That's it. Easy, isn't it? Just copy and paste this format... delete all things in italics... and you'll have made your post beautiful and ready for our viewing pleasure.
Also, to note, if you are going to post a drawing with a rating of R or higher please use a link instead of an LJ-cut. There are a few reasons for this, mainly that if someone links to the post the picture won't automatically come up.
2. Thou shalt only post WIP's if thou hast wishes for criticisms, advice, and/or help. To cut down on the amount of multiple posts, please only post your Works In Progress if you desire help and/or advice from other artists. The purpose of this is to cut down on spam. No one likes to have their Friends List bombarded with multiple posts of the same drawing.
3. Thou shalt take this community seriously and hold thy fellow artists in the highest respect. This is the last, and by far, the most important rule. Have respect for your fellow artists, people. When reviewing their works, please remember what you were taught as a young child: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Reviews such as, "THIS SUX I REALY HAT THIS DRARWING!!!" is NOT a constructive review. In fact, it's downright ridiculous and will not be tolerated. If a review like this is made, the comment will be deleted, and the livejournal user will be banned from commenting on lotrart. First offense will be three weeks. Second offense will be permanent. Mind your P's and Q's, my lovelies.
I have one more stipulation on commenting. I do not want to see one-line comments.. when reviewing someone's artwork please put thought into your review.. more on that can be read here. Please read and follow it.
This community is for serious artists only. We are here to enjoy each others art and to help each other.
This is a sister site to wonderful community hpart, which features Harry Potter fanart! It was started by the lovely andrush, and I would like to thank her for the idea of making this community, the rules (which I copied from that community because they make so much sense), and just being a very cool girl. <3
